Argentinean director, Daniel Burman’s LOST EMBRACE (EL ABRAZO PARTIDO), will now be released in the UK and Ireland by AX1 Films, which acquired the film from Bavaria Films.

Winner of two Silver Bear Awards (Best Film and Best Actor respectively) at the Berlin Film Festival 2004, countless other international awards and nominations, and also Argentina’s official entry for the 2004 Academy Awards, the film’s humour has been compared to Woody Allen at his best.

Daniel Burman is one of the most successful of Argentina’s current crop of exciting young filmmakers forming part of the so-called ‘New Wave’. Recently featured in an ITV South Bank Show Special documentary on current Argentinean cinema (along with Pablo Trapero – another filmmaker working with AX1), Burman has created a big-hearted film, which has sold to over 30 territories around the world and already met with worldwide critical acclaim and box office success.

‘Lost Embrace’ tells the story of a young Jewish man played by Daniel Hendler, who works in the family lingerie store in the district of Buenos Aires where Burman grew up. Selling knickers to old women isn't exactly what he had hoped for in life...
